Amy linked to this and I laughed so hard I had to post it.
I GET this!

This gives me a chance to say that I appreciate the adult conversation of the blog world. I haven’t been in a vehicle since Friday night when my van died. Most of my conversations consist of :
Nodding interestedly while someone tells me which team won and which team lost.
Nodding disinterestedly while they try to tell me why.
Listening while Alex tells me his latest discovery. “You aren’t finished growing until you are 56.” That explains a lot. I think I may be still growing.
Telling people to get off the computer and read.
Explaining the sin nature.
Explaining that I do this because I love them.
Being corrected by teenagers.
Being shown how to use Facebook by Emily.
Talking to my neighbor about the weather and its relation to her arthritis.
Explaining why I said no. My husband isn’t here to say, “Stop arguing with your mother.”
And of course, talking on the phone to all the many family members who don’t live here anymore.
Talking to myself. Things are reaching the critical stage.
Oh, I better go; the garbage men are here and I want to run out and say Hi.

I knew I needed to get out more when I counted the days until my pest control guy came. I used to follow that poor man around the house just to have someone over ten to talk to. I’m sure he was thinking, “Lady, you need to get out more!” Now my wonderful man takes me on dates about once a week and I can bug all the “baristas” at Barnes and Noble. Now I have a couple of teenagers and we laugh and cut up all day. Such a blessing to like your children and enjoy the progression to good friends, not that the parenting is over but things are a changin’ and it is good. Hard but good!

Cindy,
Our van caught on fire a month ago, and it’s still in the shop.
Greg has had three trips since (TX, CA, and FL, I think?). You can tell by how much I post whether Greg is home or not. There’s nobody to talk to at night.
That’s all I’m saying about my life, but I’m looking on the bright side, since someone FROM THE INTERNET is driving a long way to visit with us tomorrow.

My sister commented recently that blogs are a life-saver for SAHM’s, especially those with a houseful of very small children. We do miss that adult conversation.
Terri, I appreciated your comment about your teenagers being good friends. I remember my mom saying the same thing, especially of her teenage daughters. And I remember enjoying feeling like we were friends. It’s such a different view of teenagers to what we typically encounter.

My husband is traveling this week — and every bit of this made me laugh. Your list is strangely familiar, and the dogs are perfect.
Thanks,
Diane

I like it, too funny. I do have a great relationship with my teenage sons and we laugh and talk a lot, but I find the blog world gives me some GIRLtalk which is something I miss being home so much. ;o) Dinner conversations never seem to steer to recipes, home decorating, that cute skirt I saw in town, what I like about the movie ‘Emma’ or what I’m planning to sew for my little daughter. Maybe that sounds shallow, but I sometimes like to discuss something other than politics, economics, recitations of the dialogue between my guys and our clients during the days, quotes from Andy Griffith or that amazing lick by fiddler or guitarist so-and-so on their newest bluegrass album. :o)
Amy, are you telling us who is coming for a visit?

Waaaay cute video, CiCi!
Now, for today’s math lesson, let’s consider the exponential value of grands…..with eight children, I guess you realize you might have at least 64 grandchildren?
I dont think I’ll have more than sixteen.

I wonder if I will still be posting silly videos of number 64?
Number 2 is on the way and her name is Georgia Rae although there is a slight concern the ultrasound made a mistake. We get to see her this week sorta.

So would “George Ray” work for the family?
Comment by Janet (November 19, 2008 @ 9:05 am )
Hmmm, maybe Georgie!! But that is one thing about being a grandmother, you don’t get to pick the names and that used to be one of my favorite parts. But I love Georgia Rae!

I think Georgia Rae is a beautiful name too.
