(For stalkers and family followers and Hannah and Granny Click Here for more pictures!)
Less than 24 ours ago I became a grandmother. Since the blog is still here thanks to the overly kind Valerie, I thought it was as good a place as any to announce the fact. I am still in the market for a grandma name……
We welcome Timothy Daniel Rollins III on August 29, 2008. 7lbs 3 oz.
And if you are in the market for a midwife in the Athens area we have found a wonderful one.
The birth was great and Natalia came through unscathed and beautiful and although we don’t have decent picture yet, this is one pretty baby:

Alex is glad to be an uncle and helped the nurse out. He thinks it is great not to be the youngest member of the family anymore:

Congratulations! Lovely news, and wonderful (as in filled with wonder) pictures.

Congratulations Rollins family!!!
If you want to go for the traditional south Louisiana name, that would be Mamaw. When we lived there, I felt so bad for the girls, they were the only ones who had Granny, Memaw, & Nanny. Everyone else had a Mamaw. That’s probably what I’ll end up being, just in honor of that tradition.

Congratulations! He is beautiful.
My mom goes by “Granmama.” It is adorable when the little ones start talking because they all say “Mamama” without fail.
I’m so glad you updated for this.

Awww, thanks for posting those photos. So sweet. Did you know they were going to name him the III?

Lorri,
We tried to take all the pressure off over the name decision but in the end they decided to stick with tradition.

I love his hands! Thanks for sharing the photos!

I love it that in both the generation photos the babies are clearly focusing in on their Daddy’s faces. This is a precious photo progression–and my, what an adorably beautiful baby Timothy Daniel III is!

Colleen showed me pictures that Emily had up on her Facebook, but I just KNEW I’d find that little guy on your blog as well! He is beautiful, and I’m so glad they decided to call him Timothy Daniel. (I wasn’t too sure about the name Bruce. He’s too “wittle” to be a Bruce!) Will they call him Tim or Daniel?
I’m so excited for you all!
As far as names for grandparents, my mom just asked to be called plain, ole’ Grandmom, while Pat’s mom is MomMom. A bit boring, yes, but I mean, there are only so many names to choose from!
Comment by LInda (August 31, 2008 @ 3:51 pm )
Absolutely wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
When I was a child, we had Grandma and Granny. My children have had Grandma and Grandpa Wilkes and Grandma and Grandpa Maxwell. Now that I’m a grandma, I’m called Grandmemmy or just Memmy, a derivative of Mem, which one of my children started called me when he was young. I think the maternal grandmother was already being called Nana (or something similar–not sure).

Thank-you so much for sharing your blessings with us- those pictures are so precious.
I am all choked up- in a good way.

Patricia,
I never told you but I come from a long line of Maxwells! I like Memmy a lot !
Amber,
I didn’t realize you had a blog. I will add it to my the growing list of Rollins family blogs on my Bloglines.
Sharon,
That first picture in 1984 has become a family classic because of the eye contact.

beautiful family! Congratulations!

Congratulations!
Choose a name now, lest you be dubbed with a name like my mother-in-law was by my four-year-old: The-Grandma-Whose-Cat-Died.
We can’t shake him of the name, though the cat died over a year ago!

I don’t know what made me check over here - it’s been a long time since I looked at your blog to see if you updated.
I am crying tears of joy. The picture of the new family is beautiful. Congratulations! Love, Sandy

PS. My mother is called “Nana” (”ah” as in “father” not “Nana” like the dog in Peter Pan). She just didn’t like “Granny”. My mother is a “hip” grandmother. Chuck’s French mother was Ma Maw (spelling I don’t know…but it was said with a Cajun French accent).

I have been a visitor, seeking insporation as I begin homeschooling. Thanks for having been here.
As far as the name, I have a wonderful aunt and uncle whose grandchildren call them Lolly and Pop, get it Lollipop. I love fun creative things like that!
Thanks, The Park Wife

Congratulations, Cindy! I just stopped in, I don’t know why, hoping to see something new from you and this is wonderful news!
I’m praying for the new little family now.
My officer is getting married on Nov.1, we are so thrilled. I hope to be called “Oma” referring to our German heritage.

Oh Cindy!!! Congrats on the birth of your Grandson.
Timothy and Natalia, congrats on the birth of your first son. He is beautiful.
I’m all choked up too. This is wonderful news and so nice of you to post it on the blog. I miss you Cindy. I had a feeling this was the post you promised a few weeks ago on your delicious. I admit I am one of those stalkers that clicks over here in hopes of a post. It never hurts to try.
Enjoy that precious baby boy and may God bless the entire Rollins family!

I am contemplating a return to blogging brought on by a couple of changes in my life.
I was encouraged by a woman at church to continue blogging.
She said that she understood why I quit but that she thought I should be writing.
I only have 5 children at home this year and they can all read.
My husband is working out of town.
I have time on my hands and I don’t get out much. Blogging helps my social skills which are sometimes lacking.
I am putting this in the comments because I am not ready to return yet but and I don’t want you all to feel you must beg me but I did want to mention it.
Comment by Cindy (September 9, 2008 @ 7:52 am )
Congratulations to all. And thank you for the entry. You are missed.
Comment by Julia (September 9, 2008 @ 2:34 pm )
Oh, Cindy, so good to hear from you, and such glorious news to boot! Many congratulations to you all!
I am also weighing whether to fire up The Beehive blog again, which has lain dormant since spring. Over the past year the mighty winds did blow, and I needed to batten down the hatches for a while in order to stay afloat. But I liked the blog, really I did, and now I am beginning to miss it every now and then. Hmmm.
Anyway… good to hear from you!
Comment by Lynn (September 12, 2008 @ 5:23 pm )
Lynn,
I have definitely noticed your absence and have wondered about the wedding and your health. I may just blog whenever the whim hits

Imagine my surprise this morning when I clicked on my Google Reader and there you were as a recommended blog. Hey, welcome back! And congratulations! I think Ci-Ci is just fine as a grandma name, but really, whatever you’re called will become laden with affection.
Comment by Laura A (September 20, 2008 @ 11:19 am )
Congratulations! I know I’m nearly a month late, but I’ve out of town and terribly busy and I’ve checked in here more than once in the last month and there was nothing new! My computer is very cruel to me.
What adorable pictures — especially the father/son pairs.
None of our parents have named themselves, they’ve all been named by the kids. We have a Nanmama, a Grandma Joicie, and a Granddaddy Beard. The other granddaddy was always just “Granddaddy,” probably because the kids never got to spend much time with them. My husband’s grandmother is Nanny.
I was going to suggest Bonne-Maman, which the French and sounds so pretty. It’s probably also the derivation of the Cajun Mamaw, since it’s pronounced pretty much that way.
I have a friend whose grandmothers were Mimi and Nonny. Can’t remember what the grandfathers’ names were, but I think it was Pappaw for the first and Poppy for the second.
What are you kids’ grandparents and great-grandparents called?
Comment by Kelly (September 25, 2008 @ 1:43 pm )
YOU’RE HERE!!! Congratulations on the birth of your grandson, how exciting! I hope you’ll be posting regularly again if you have time; I’ve missed your wisdom, friendship and comraderie. :o)
