I have been cooking. Thanks to a few online friends who steered me towards cooking blogs my life in the kitchen has been revolutionized.
I have made these and they were so good I will be making them again tonight, and this another keeper for special occasions, and even this although I only got to take a small bite myself.
I am so jazzed about cooking again I plan to look through all my Paula Deen and Southern Living magazines today looking for ideas. I also have a couple years worth of Quick Cooking and Taste of Home but I have decided to look through all the magazines this summer, cut out any recipes I want and throw the rest away. I have too many choices right now.
You know you are dysfunctional about food when every bite you take of corn-on-the-cob makes you feel guilty. If you are eating low carb the only way to make it work is to put so much butter on it that the fat to carb ratio is skewed. I can just see my ample grandmother, and yours, apron on, wooden spoon in hand warning us to stay away from starchy foods. Still I don’t think you should have to agonize over Silver Queen, my grandfather didn’t. Like strawberry shortcake it might be a sin not to eat it.

Do you have a Master Cookbook? I have a honking three ringed binder in which I place my favorite recipes. Then I start putting ones I think I should try and it starts getting clogged up.
I need to go through my overflowing collection of Taste of Homes and Cooking Light and collect the best, like you said.
When I looked at my cookbook collection and realized that there were several books in which I used just *one* recipe, I copied that recipe, put it in my 3-ring binder and got rid of the cookbook.
Dana at Hidden Art has given me some wonderful recipes. She is a Southern Living magazine personified.
Happy Cooking, Cindy!

Wow. That is great Cindy!
PW’s recipes are amazing. I can’t believe you made the peaches and maple sauce. My sister and I were just talking about it.
If you like olives you might head over to my place for an olive covered Mexican chip dip.

Amen on the Silver Queen corn. (Strawberry shortcake, too.)

Pioneer Woman is a crack up. Her sense of humor is “real” though she sometimes makes me cringe.
I can’t remember if I mentioned it before, though you may already know of it since it was reviewed in George Grant’s newsletter, but you will get really “inspired” about cooking if you read Robert Farrar Capon’s _Supper of the Lamb_. Cooking will never seem the same.

I, too, made the peach crisp with maple cream. Yum! Though one of my dc prefers my old recipe. And, I’ve been wanting to try the olive bread.

Good for you, Cindy! And for your family, also! What do they think of the new Chef Cindy? Between reading your post and watching a bit more Food Network lately, I am planning to try some new recipes, also. Be sure to post any good ones you find.

Hey Cindy!
That Pioneer Woman is a hoot
Anyway, my sister gave me the best gift for my birthday this year - a subscription to Cook’s Country magazine. This thing is chock full of great tips and recipes. They even review certain kitchen appliances and food like the best kettle cooked potato chips or the best slow cooker. I am inspired to make a Tres Leches Cake I saw in there today. Happy cooking!

Thanks for introducing me to Pdub a few weeks back. I’ve been loving her site and her recipes. I made the olive bread last week, and tonight I made twice-baked potatoes. Did you make the dip with Ro-tel? Monday I try the jalapeno recipe.
I also get good recipes with photos/tutorials from Tammysrecipes.com. She’s probably the other end of the spectrum from PW in regards to fashion and humor. Her bagel recipe is fabulous, as is the apple ladder thingy.
I like food way too much.
