Do you like the absurd?
I thoroughly enjoy the absurd and you will often find me giggling to myself when something hits my absurd bone. Most of the time I am the only one who finds that sort of thing funny.
I once spent an entire Christmas season giggling over the absurdity of putting a tree in the house.
You probably think when I brag about my town I am bragging
I am sure I live in the best town in the world. I have learned so much about community from living here.
Friday was Teacher Appreciation Day at the local high school (grades K-12). Guess who they brought the leftovers to? I received, as a gift, huge pans of baked beans, potato salad and rolls. I wanted to cry; the local public school brought Teacher Appreciation leftovers to the local homeschooling mom. It was so entirely absurd that all I could do was thank the Lord for his tremendous kindness to our family in this community.
There is a house for sale on our street. It’s on a couple acres and has a barn.
You come too.

Sounds tempting!!
Actually, people give food to our big family here, too. Why, just yesterday, we went to a graduation and had a lovely meal of bbq chicken, salad, rolls and baked potatoes. Only the lovely lady of the house baked 50 lbs. of potatoes. Yow.
So we told them, sure, we like baked potatoes!

I think that’s just great that they thought of your family, even if it is absurd.
“You come too”
I like it when you write ’southern’.
Just the other day I said “Lord willin and the creek don’t rise” I thought of you.

Good for you, Cindy! Your family must be quite a testimony there. I tend to want to hole up instead of reaching out to my community. I am trying to learn from you.
On a side note, which is your favorite BBQ place there? I told Kevin we should drive over and walk the trails and eat BBQ. Didn’t you say you have three BBQ places there? We usually eat Lawler’s. My bil likes to barbecue. He has made a cooker out of a trash can! It make fabulous BBQ! I keep telling Kevin I need one of those.

We are a Whitt’s family. If we are in town we usually stop at Whitt’s. I like Lawler’s also, especially their stuffed potatoes. Can you believe 2 of our BBQ places closed but the Old Gin House is still open and we like to eat there? Still I have to say Whitt’s is the best ioho.

One more thing, Laura.
I never would have believed we could live like this. I have always been one to hide away from nosy neighbors, maybe it was just the way people were in NJ.
Anyway, I think God had a purpose for us here in this community not one that we could forsee or plan for. The real thing that helped us is that we are right on the main thoroughfare and almost everyone passes our house everyday. I think the dispelled the myth of the homeschool family.

How much is it the house going for, just out of curiosity?

I think it is around $170,000. Not sure because they dropped the price.

You can’t even buy a studio condo here for that price. Can you email me with your approximate location so I can talk to my hubby about it? We are due for a move!
