Praise You in This Storm
words by Mark Hall/music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms
I was sure by now, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it’s still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.
Chorus:
And I’ll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can’t find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away
Chorus
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
Chorus

I love this song. I am going through a storm with my 9 year old dd who is scheduled for surgery next month.
Bernie Herms is the dh of Natalie Grant, whose song “Held” ministered to me during a long chronic illness and is the name of my blog. In fact, I posted this song on my blog awhile back.

I don’t want this to be too public on the blog so I am slipping it in the comments. My husband is working out of state for a couple of weeks but he was in the hospital this weekend and he is still very sick. He has a headache that won’t stop. So my faithful comment readers can pray for him.

I know that song has ministered to so many. It was very dear to me last summer when we went through some very difficult times. While driving one day one of my daughters said, “Mom, I have a song I want you to hear.” She played that song and I could barely keep driving.
It’s so nice now to be on the other side of that storm where everything looks fresh and green and clean and I pray that’s how it will be for you. But there is something special about being in the thick of a trial and finding God in it and I pray you will feel Him near.

Never heard of the song, thank you for posting it. Praying for healing for your husband, and for your family as you weather THIS storm, with God’s help.

Praying for Tim and the rest of you, of course, Cindy.

I’m praying for you and Tim, Cindy. I wondered if something was going on with one of your children with the recent posts. So, I was already praying for you, just not in the right direction, I guess. I’m sure you are like me and happy to get all the prayers for your children that people will send up. I hope things are better soon.

Praying for your husband right now.

Praying right now.
I have to admit that I absolutely HATE that song, but only because it started playing on the radio the day my youngest son died last year. I wasn’t really ready to hear it yet that day and now it reminds me of so much that is still hard to dwell on. If it helps anyone else, though, then I’m more than glad it was written.

Well, Birdie, of course you don’t like the song and I sorry it may have brought you pain. I don’t listen to Christian radio much …or any radio for that matter, so I can’t remember how I stumbled on the song.

Cindy, Thank you for your kind words. I’m sorry to have given you the impression that you caused me pain by posting the song. You didn’t. I’ve just never managed to learn to like that one. I don’t listen to much radio either so it is kind of funny that it even has such a strong association for me.
