One of my favorite blogs is Coffee and a Muffin. Kim is the homemaker I would love to be and her ideas are extremely helpful to the dysfunctional part of my life.
Today Kim linked to a post by Barbara Curtis. I haven’t read too much about a certain web controversy but Barbara’s post reminded me why I am so sensitive in a certain area. And this list she linked to is well worth perusal. If you have ever been under someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder you will never forget what it looks like again. I do not know where this particular controversy will end up and I don’t intend to follow it too closely but Barbara’s comments are priceless for many different reasons.
The folks at The Common Room have really let me down. Instead of throwing their socks away they have made daisy chains out of them. I suppose a certain Headmistress has lost her mind because she is on medication for a tooth extraction and her children are sick. I feel sorta sorry for her and I worry she is not being a good example. Plus all her socks are pretty colors. No one in their right mind would weave anything with our boys’ socks.
She also asks a question about using del icio us. The very question I was thinking of asking today. How do you use this service?
Finally, Laura has graciously given me the letter A.
So here are the ten things I love that begin With the letter A.
1. Alpha and Omega. The Beginning and the End. The Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Alex. My 5yo wonder child. Adorable, sweet, & obedient.
3. Andrew. My 8yo teddy bear. There is only one Andrew.
4. Agrarians. Here are my 3 favorite Agrarian blogs: Rick at Cumberland Books and Tn Farm Girl and Herrick Kimball.
5. Audrey Hepburn. I’d be a wannabe but short, blond and chubby isn’t gonna make the cut.
6. All’s Well That Ends Well, As You Like It, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Antony & Cleopatra. (William Shakespeare)
7. Athletics. Love to watch my boys play ball.
8. Atlanta Braves. At least I have to say that to keep peace in my family and also to participate in over half of the conversations.
9. Autumn. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

10. Alabama. Need I say more. Y’all want to move here already even if you don’t know it yet.

Your Common Room comments made me LOL. I thought the same thing about her socks–so colorful. Ours are all black or once-white:)

LOL, Cindy. I was planning a post at the DHM’s site, but couldn’t decide what to respond to; however, I thought the exact same thing you did about the color of the socks. I don’t know how people end up with such nicely color coordinated socks with strays. But maybe that’s because we’ve had a lot of boys, too. It reminds me (I’m not sure why) how people rave about getting thrift store clothing. Not me. I’m just an odd enough proportioned person that even if I think it fits at the thrift store, it’s never quite right. I’ve got too many quirky body parts.
We’re having our first sort-of normal day in a long time. It’s so nice.

It’s the six girls combined with having three years worth of mismatched socks- they fill a HUGE garbage bag. I have used all the purple, pink, and yellow ones for this project and it’s only going to make a smallish rug.
Another one using green, blue, and all the shades of browns will make another smallish rug.
That takes care of about half the socks.
I told Cindy I thought about dying all the white ones left, using pokeweed and walnut hulls and goldenrod in proper agrarian fashion, but I don’t think I will. A small number will be cut from stem to stern for rags and the rest will finally be put out of our misery.
I’m sorry for being a bad example.=)
That Barbara Curtis link is a good one. Unfortunately,w e recognized too many of the symptoms of both cults, and narcisstic personality issues.

You know I call Kim the Bosch Queen. I really need to change that to Homemaking Queen. She is amazing!
I read most of Barbara’s post. It was very good. Hopefully the more sanctified we become we realize it is futile to follow men.

I loved your “A” list! I have to agree with you on Alabama - and everyone who has come to visit us wants to move to Alabama now.

Thanks for such kind words, Cindy. You know I think as highly of you!
Janet, you are so sweet! It IS something I love being (homemaker, I mean).

One more thing, I agree that Alabama is a very beautiful state. My grandmother lived in a town west of Mobile and we visited her often there. So lots of trips through Alabama for us. Now she lives in TX with my parents and (forgive me) I loathe driving through Mississippi and Louisiana on our way to Texas, but enjoy the different route through AL (in fact, I think we pass near Ruthanne on our trips - I don’t know what part of AL you live in, Cindy).

I liked your letter meme!
Audrey Hepburn is just lovely isn’t she?
I’d like to be Grace Kelly :o)

Cindy,
It depends what you want to use del.icio.us for: to organize your bookmarks, to share your links via social networking, or to post links with one click (no logging in, no typing the title of the link, and no HTML coding). There are many uses for del.icio.us, many of which might already be accomplished with other tools (like publicly sharing your favorite blogs–an already in use blogline account would be better). So, in short, it really all depends what you want it for, whether or not it’d be useful to you. If you just want to know what del.icio.us does, the three things I mentioned above are the most obvious uses that I know of.
Do I suspect you’re envious of my side bloggy blog?

Ahh, you are a clever girl, Amy. I am still trying to defrag my stubborn second computer but just as soon as I have time I’m gonna figure that out!
Sorry I missed you on the A’s. Believe it or not those A’s gave me a lot of trouble. My mind was A blank.

A-OK, Cindy. I was just a-razzin’ ya.

“5. Audrey Hepburn. I’d be a wannabe but short, blond and chubby isn’t gonna make the cut.”
I resemble that remark.

I use del.icio.us only as a back-up for my bookmarks. We’ve had to nuke the computer a few too many times and have never found some sites again. Insurance if you will.
