I will continue my vacation vignettes by telling you of an interesting phenomenon I experienced.
Nathaniel and I drove to KY to attend a banquet. My dad was being inducted into the EKU Hall of Fame. This was the first ever EKU induction so it was a big deal. Among the other inductees were an NFL football player and an Olympic runner.
I was a little appalled when I realized Nathaniel was wearing cargo pants. My dad took us out to lunch at Paneros and we ended up shopping at Goodys for Nathaniel.
The weird thing was they were playing Christmas music in Goodys and because I was visiting my parents away from home I had to keep slapping my brain around to remind it that it was not Christmas yet. I hate early Christmas music just because I enjoy the season and the music so much.
That music completely tricked my body even while my mind disengaged itself. I found myself dancing among the clothes looking for holiday sweaters, swaying and humming. It made me so mad.
We had a great time at the banquet where they did not play Christmas music but where my dad was the last speaker and as always he gave a great speech. I especially liked the part where he told a roomful of coaches that Nathaniel was a GREAT ballplayer.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow….

I’m dying to write a post about a new Christmas CD I purchased at Sams but I agree, it’s too early. That hasn’t stopped me from listening to it though. And it’s a good one!
Congrats to your Dad.

Oh, I am dying to know what it is. I am still hoping to purchase the Tony Bennett Duets CD at Target.

We have a couple Christmas CD’s in our apartment and we started listening to them at the beginning of this school term. My roomates insisted that we never celebrate Christmas enough in Moscow, since we all leave for break right at the best part. So we’ve decided to start early. I’m enjoying, but I understand not wanting to start the Christmas season till after Thanksgiving. It’s been fun though…
Cheers!

Well, Michelle, you are in luck, we break out the Christmas CD’s just as soon as the Thanksgiving dishes are cleared.

I’m still listening to my Paul Hillier CD Home to Thanksgiving with the highlight being the song, Christ the Apple Tree.
Your post made me giggle, Cindy. Thanks.
And I hope you still like me, even tho’ I quoted Lincoln today. I know…I should be ashamed of myself
