Life goes in cycles. I know for some people in this family the cycle is spring training, 1st half, all star game, 2nd half, play-offs, World Series, depression. When “Barney” was in the police academy we spent a lot of time praying for him. When he graduated we all felt like we had participated.
At this time we are heavily involved in “getting” Timothy through BUD/s. I don’t mean to blog about it all time but I haven’t been thinking of much else lately.
In a most amazing providence one of Timothy’s cousins is a pastor San Diego. This weekend his wife sent us a picture of Timothy. We were all a bit shocked at how thin he looks, but his spirits are much higher than they were a week ago. Timothy is a bit embarrassed that I am blogging about him since he knows the chances of getting through BUD/s are slim. As a matter of fact, he knows that he can’t get through BUD/s unless God has a purpose for him to get through.
And in the meantime, here is a link that gives a detailed explanation of each BUD/s phase.
Here is the page which describes the week Timothy is on. Isn’t that drown-proofing awful?
I will try to resume my humorous or controversial posts soon. Maybe I will blog about new evidence that supports the claim that it is perfectly fine to end a sentence with a preposition and indeed, always has been or another topic near and dear to my heart, the boorishness of gestapo homeschool moms.

I find this all very interesting. I am happy that you are sharing with us so that we can all pray with you for Timothy.
You must be so proud to raise a son that is even willing to begin all that, knowing what is coming. And he has made it through much! As a mama, do you cry when you read all that or do you just feel proud? As a lady, I cannot even imagine going through one day of that!
I want to hear all about the things you feel have helped you to raise such manly men. I remember reading Barbara Curtis said she prayed for her sons to be “tender warriors”. I love that.
Back to the unpacking…

What on earth is a gestapo homeschool mom?

Yes, please do take a moment and explain gestapo homeschool moms.

Do it now or else! How’s that?

Maybe we can meet at Starbucks one afternoon.
I will try and explain gestapo homeschooling moms tomorrow.

Cindy, We are all praying for Timothy and for the complicated journey that a mom goes on when her sons are men. Thank God for His purposes…How would a mom get through a son’s seal training without the Lord?
Love, K
p.s. spent my entire homeschooling life avoiding gestapo moms-have been successful so far…

Cindy,
I have been praying for Timothy. I know what it is to worry about sons! You have a lot to be proud about with him and Barney.
I am looking forward to hearing about gestapo moms, too :-).

Cindy, you are a strong woman. If my son was attempting this I know I couldn’t read about the torture, um, training he is going through each week.
I have considered it a privilege to pray for Timothy and I like hearing your updates.

My what a handsome son! How proud, to have a son with a warrior’s heart! No matter the outcome of the training, this is forming him into exactly the man God has for him to be. Oh the possibilities! Praise our great God!
“Gestapo Homeschool Mom’s” conjures up several different pictures in my mind and makes me wonder if I’m guilty!
Over my time period at my sister’s a told a perfect stranger at her church that she should bring her child home to school! I’m not in the habit of doing such a thing, but this lady was laughing about how her child tells her that what their class is doing is none of her business….she’s (the Mom) not a first-grader! I think I was too shocked to close my mouth fast enough, it just came out!
So, do I qualify?

Ich hoffe, daß ich nicht eine Gestapo Hauptschulemamma bin.

Cindy,
I would love to meet you at Starbuck’s one day. We do only have one vehicle right now. So I would have to work around that. If I got organized and brave, I’d invite you here. : ) We are a mile or two from Starbuck’s.
Thanks for always giving me “food for thought”.

I am in the same boat about the car situation!

Wow! I’ll be praying for Timothy. No wonder the end is called Hell Week.
