I feel almost embarrassed for the good men on that list.

I’m curious at why you are apalled. I think I understand but I’d like to hear from you. Have a very nice day. ~Crissy

Well right off the bat you have a man who doesn’t hold a biblical or traditionally accepted view of the Gospel. Many of those listed wouldn’t even believe in the Trinity.

I see one one the list is the pastor of Willow Creek Church. Isn’t that the church that received some media attention for its decision to close on Christmas Day? The pastor reportedly encouraged everyone to worship in their own family way around the tree on Christmas morning, instead of coming to church. What a marvelous influence!

It seems like many on the list could stand to read Louis Berkhof’s “Systematic Theology”. I have the one published by Christian Liberty Press called “Manual of Christian Doctrine”, it is great! I’ve actually read most of it! Yeah for me

I thought about that, Janet. I like that book and the Foundations book by Dr Boice.

Maybe I’ll read a couple of the books as well. To be honest books of this nature are hard for me to get through. I’m still reading Confessions by St. Augustine, five months later. It’s good, just hard to keep at it.

Crissy,
As we say around here: Slow and steady wins the race

I agree. “Confessions” deserves a good, slow perusal. Taking notes helps, too.
I’m rather appalled at that list as well, but should I be? Look at the state of the “middle-class American church” today. (Dr. Phil????????) I do like Joni Eareckson Tada, however. Her books have been some of the most beautiful, eye-opening books I’ve read. And I LOVE John Piper. But two? Out of a list of 50????
